Western Pride grabbed their first win of the season after they outlasted a spirited Sunshine Coast Fire at Briggs Rd on Saturday evening.

Pride scored a goal in each half from MacKenzie McAvoy and Sophie Weatherby before  Tegan Buchmann reduced the deficit in the last 20 minutes.

Fire would have taken a share of the spoils but for Pride keeper Kirsten Veeren who made a series of diving saves to thwart Teyana Bielby.

The result sees Pride move off the foot of the table with two rounds remaining.
